I know you are anxiously awaiting the posting of the class lists for next year, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to post them yet.  Thank you for your patience.  You know that all we're waiting on is an official word on how many choirs we'll offer next year.  I'm told that decision will be made by next Monday, and then the lists will go up!!

Looking for the 2013-2014 Class Lists? (Posted 3/27)

I am sorry that they are not finalized yet.  To make it up to you, I updated the blog.  Check out the newest posts!
(There is a chance that we could be adding a fourth choir to the program next year.  Until I know which classes will be offered, I will not be able to finalize the class lists.)

Congratulations to all of the choirs!  Our students sang beautifully in their performances, handled themselves confidently in their sight-singing sessions, and represented Edison well overall!  Click here to see the adjudicators' comments and scores for each choir.  Click here to read Mrs. Henderson's thoughts on how DCA went and to leave your own thoughts.

Choir-For-A-Day Rescheduled!! (Posted 1/28)

Williamsburg Trip (posted 1/26/2013)

The spring chorus trip will be an overnight trip from Friday, March 22 - Saturday, March 23.  We will have a clinic at the College of William and Mary with Dr. James Armstrong, observe a college choir rehearsal, hopefully spend some time in an indoor water park, and then have a day in Busch Gardens.  Click here for detailed information and a participation contract.  Contracts and initial deposits are due by Friday, Feb. 1.

Choir-For-A-Day Postponed (Posted 1/25/2013)

Choir-For-A-Day has been postponed due to weather-related school closings.  We are hoping to hold our event next Saturday, Feb. 2nd, but are awaiting approval.  Check back soon for an official update.

Happy New Year - what's next? (Posted 1/2/2013)

Choir-for-a-Day is coming up on Friday, January 25th!  It will start right after school and go until 9 pm.

This is a required event for all EHS chorus students (unless you're going out of town - if that's the case, be sure to submit an excuse form), and you are encouraged to bring as many of your friends as you can.  This is a great way to get your friends excited about choir - so that they'll want to come to your concerts or even join choir themselves next year!  (Remember, 20 new male singers = Bohemian Rhapsody next year!  And to balance the sound of the 20 new guys we want to get, we'll need more girls too.)

For chorus students it's free (and worth a grade).  For non-chorus students admission is $1.

Order a Chorus Jacket (Posted 12/17/12)

Interested in getting (or giving) a chorus jacket?  HURRY - orders are due THIS week (Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest).  To see pictures of the jacket, and place your order, go to the Choir Gear section of the site (or just click here).  After placing your order online, you'll need to bring your payment to Mrs. Henderson (or charge your chorus account if you have enough).

Concert Week is here (Posted 12/10/12)

The choruses will be putting on their concert, "Winter Gifts," on Thursday, 12/13, at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.  They will be singing songs about winter and presents along with other seasonal favorites.  Doors will open at 6:35 pm.  Admission is free, donations are always appreciated.  A reception with cookies and cider will follow the concert.

Students will have a combined rehearsal after school on Tuesday, 12/11 from 2:15 - 4:30 pm.  Call time on Thursday, 12/13 is 5:45 pm.

Dinner and The Man Who Came to Dinner (Posted 12/3/12)

This week we are teaming up with the Drama Department - we're putting on a dinner and they're putting on a show.  Please support the choirs by purchasing a ticket to the dinner being served on Friday, December 7th.  You'll get pasta, salad, bread and dessert.  Go over to edisondrama.com to purchase your tickets.  But do it soon, tickets are only available for purchase through Tuesday.

Winter Caroling and Concerts {Posted 11/29/12)

Information about some optional upcoming caroling opportunities and required performances was sent home with all chorus students on Monday, 11/26 and Tuesday, 11/27.  Parents were also sent the information page via email on 11/29.  Students were also given the requisite permission forms, which must be turned in by Monday, 12/3.  If you need another copy of the information or permission forms, please contact Mrs. Henderson.

Seeking Seamstresses (Posted 11/14/12)

This year, the Choral Guild and the Principal at EHS funded the purchase new dresses for our choruses.  Most of the dresses have come in, and now they need to be hemmed to be the correct length for each girl in choir.  There's nothing really tricky about the material - it's 100% polyester fabric with a little bit of stretch to it.  We have a seamstress coming in to mark/pin the hems so that they are all at a uniform length.  We need volunteers who could each sew a few hems for us.

Rules for hemming:
Use black thread
DO NOT cut the fabric (this way we can let the hem out for a taller singer next year)

If you could hem a dress or two (or more), please send Mrs. H a quick email at mahenderson@fcps.edu letting her know how many you'd be willing to do.  The hemming would need to be finished by Nov. 28th.

All-District Audition Results are In! (posted 11/10/12)
